Lactic acid used in the tanning and textile industries. It is used to regulate acidity in the confectionery industry. In the chemical industry, it can be used to obtain propylene glycol and acrylic acid. Work is under way to obtain useful polymers from lactic acid, for example for the production of biodegradable disposable bags.
