Pure phenol [108-95-2] Phenol is used for the production of variousphenol resins, as an intermediate in the production of many dyes and pharmaceuticals, as a disinfectant for toilets, floors and sewage systems. It is used as a topical antiseptic and chemical reagent analysis. It was detected in cigarette smoke and car exhaust. Smoke emitted from a burning mosquito coil (mosquito repellent) has been found to contain submicron particles coated with phenol and other substances.
